I recently reactivated my subscription to the Bloom therapy app. Why, you might ask? Current events have made me realize that I'm still, in many ways, reliving some of my childhood traumas.
After some research, I found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) appears to be a promising starting point for self-healing. So, I embarked on Bloom's short course titled "The Inner Child," and it turned out to be an unexpectedly emotional journey. I didn't anticipate feeling much - perhaps just a bit awkward. However, I was met with a profound sense of relief. I found solace in the ability to comfort myself, extending from my present self to my past self.
I felt a glimmer of hope, a light at the end of this long tunnel. I gave my inner child the hug she desperately needed during those times of hardship:
Being bullied by certain people who were close to me.
Being laughed at in school because my nickname sounded funny.
Feeling conditionally loved by a parent for dressing more like a boy and for my relationships with other girls.
Experiencing neglect and isolation, even in the supposed comfort of my own home.
The good news is that the effects of childhood trauma and epigenetics are malleable! Healing will undoubtedly be a non-linear process requiring considerable effort, but it's a journey I am willing to undertake. Moving forward in life means making peace with my inner child, embracing her as an integral part of who I am.
đŹÂ Quote of the Week
I hope to be âoriginalâ in my expression, just as I imagine all artists do. As I have already explained, however, itâs not something I myself can determine. However loudly I proclaim it from the rooftops, however often I am praised for it by the critics and the media, our voices are fated to vanish in the wind. - Novelist as a Vocation by Haruki Murakami

Article Highlight: My introduction to Colin Wright came through one of the essays in The Minimalists a couple of years back. If you're familiar with the world of minimalism, or are exploring ways to embrace it, you might have come across Wright. He's known for dramatically simplifying his life, owning only 72 items by 2009. Intriguingly, by 2010, he had further reduced his possessions to just 51. It's thought-provoking to consider where he stands now, 14 years later.
Tech Spotlight: Consider giving the Bloom app a try. It's a space where you can explore courses like 'The Inner Child,' designed to offer insights and techniques for self-healing.
